Olivia - Izaak, I know you really don't like to have this debate, but I really think that .999 repeating IS equal to 1.
Izaak - But, they're TWO DIFFERENT NUMBERS because 1.0 and 0.9 without the repeating numbers are different.
Olivia - That doesn't make sense to me. This is my explanation: So, I'm talking about fractions and decimals. Zero thirds (0/3) is zero repeating, one third (1/3) is .333 repeating, and two thirds (2/3) is .666 repeating. So, what should three thirds (3/3) be? I think it should be .999 repeating because each time you are adding .333 repeating. But, three thirds is also 1. That's why I think .999 repeating is equal to 1 because I use fractions and decimals to explain it better for me.
Izaak - Oh! I like my idea better though.
